Hi, I’m Leigh, a kingdom-minded wife and mom. I tried to duct tape my priorities together without the right focus for way too many years. I was busy chasing approval from others, trying to meet perceived external expectations, and flying by the seat of my pants as a homeschool mom.

I finally realized that if I was going to fully embrace the life I had, I needed to operate from a place of peace and joy. That’s when I planted my feet firmly where I was and began to create beauty, seek simplicity, and live intentionally. And I’m ready to share this with you!

If you are ready to love your life as a homeschool mom and to know for certainty that you are doing the right thing for your children--this podcast is for you!

Close up that lesson book, mama, let the kids go play, it’s time for you to thrive!

Let’s work together and get your homeschool to the place you just know it can be. We all can get stuck and not know what to do, how to adjust, or if we’re even doing it right. We’ll dive in deep to all the homeschool hot topics and create the homeschool that you and your children will thrive in!

The public school system is the most prominent educational model in our culture. And it's often the one that homeschoolers look to for guidance or at least a set of standards to measure against.
But, if you've done more than a day or two of homeschooling, you quickly realize that home education is (and should be) vastly different.
One of the common questions and source of many a mom wondering if she's doing enough is how much time to spend on school. I thought it was about time to talk this through and decided to focus on the elementary age range.
And for fun, let's discuss what happens after the school day is done!

Even in the homeschool realm, it can feel like there are some taboo topics. Or at least ones that moms are hesitant to voice their opinion about.
Testing and grading is one of those and I am actually loving the fact that more homeschool moms are willing to think outside the box and take a different approach. And bonus points for sharing what you do and why with others!
Through all the years of homeschooling, I had a strong resolve not to give tests or grades to my children. Two have graduated and my final homeschooler is in his last year and it has worked for all the ages.
My hope is that this episode gives you insight and confidence to take a road a little less traveled...

Wow! The questions in this episode are deep, but I'm here for it. I loved answering your questions that ranged from the reality of homeschooling boys who are on the move (it was a common theme for this one), homeschooling specific questions, and we ended with a question that brought tears to my eyes.
Enjoy getting my point of view on these and when you have a question, I'd love to hear it!

Technology has come in like a tidal wave and our culture has just willingly accepted and adopted it all without questioning the ramifications. This isn't just for ourselves as adults, but for our children as well.
At this point, you'd have to be living in a cave to not know that there is some pushback and evidence showing the negative impact screens can have on our children. But, as a homeschool parent, you spend a lot of time being intentional and wonder if you've created enough boundaries around screens for your children.
Or maybe your homeschool family has adopted some habits that you have concern about and wonder how to realistically make some changes.
Clare Morell, of the Ethics and Public Policy Center and author of The Tech Exit is here on today's episode to give you facts, direction, and most of all, hope. She is in the trenches of motherhood, just like you are, so her advice and suggestions are not some pie in the sky dream, but realistic and practical.
You don't want to miss this episode!

We're going to poke the bear a little bit today. But not to make enemies. Instead, let's take a look at how the school system matches up with the here and now and then, flip the script to make your homeschool what it needs to be for your family.
It's no secret that many families are choosing to home educate their children. At the end of the day, are you simply replicating the school system at home? You've left the system for various reasons, but are you still stuck in an outdated way of educating children?
Join the conversation as we pull back the veil and then give you clear steps to update your homeschool so it can be successful.

The (not so) funny thing about homeschooling is that in theory, it sounds like a magical place full of perfect days. And then...reality hits. As the homeschool mom, we have to actually carry through with the plan.
Enter the hurdle of consistency.
You know how it goes: great curriculum and a plan for the day and then one thing after another and it feels easier to just put everything aside for today.
And then tomorrow, the day after, the next day, and on and on.
In today's episode, I'm going to share with you what helped me to be consistent so that I could graduate my homeschoolers knowing that I did my part.
Grab those big girl pants and let's goooo!!!

It's common knowledge that homeschooling includes academic work. And as a homeschool mom, you know that you get to choose how and when that occurs in your home education.
But there is so much more to homeschool than the books and curriculum.
I hadn't realized when I began 15 years ago how much this one big shift in our family would affect our lives. And as I began to see all of the potential in each year and the difference it was making in my children, I caught a bigger vision for this time.
Not only that, but I realized that these years could rewrite my story. They could change the trajectory of our family and our children's path.
May today's episode inspire you to think and dream bigger!

Nowadays, we take for granted that we can easily switch to homeschooling and continue for as long as we want to. But, the early homeschoolers didn't have that assurance. It took a few brave parents to step into the unknown and create a path for us to follow.
Zan Tyler is one of those women! She and her husband made the decision to homeschool before anyone even knew what that was. They became trailblazers in creating the freedom that we so easily enjoy today.
After all those years of homeschooling and watching her children grow and succeed, she has continued to encourage homeschool moms. Her perspective in today's episode on keeping our eyes on what truly matters will greatly encourage you.
